Set up two-factor authentication before fall program registration

MyRichmond—the one-stop online portal to access many City services such as recreation program registration, taxes and utilities, permitting, licensing and emergency notifications—now requires two-factor authentication to log in.

All MyRichmond account holders need to enter a one-time 6-digit passcode that will be sent to their email.

Once logged in, account holders may also choose to set up a convenient passkey (e.g. face scan or Personal Identification Number [PIN] saved on the customer’s personal computer or smartphone) for subsequent log ins. Passkey authentication provides the most seamless user experience and is both the recommended and easiest security alternative.

Be ready for fall program registration starting the evening of Tuesday, July 16. To prepare for a smooth log in process, users should ensure they still have access to the email linked to their MyRichmond account. They should also familiarize themselves with the enhanced log in process so if they wish to register for a course, they will be able to immediately and seamlessly proceed.

For those who use the MyRichmond app, it should be updated through the App Store or Play Store before proceeding with two-factor authentication.

These security enhancements are part of the City’s ongoing commitment to provide a higher degree of protection of customer data and information.
