New museum exhibit celebrates the arts in Richmond

The Richmond Museum’s compelling new exhibition, The Arts Live Here, celebrates how Richmond residents express their stories through the arts. Displays range from Chinese opera costumes to a flower power public piano, period portraits and fabulous fashion outfits.

An Evil Queen dress from the filmed-in-Richmond TV series Once Upon A Time, as well as architectural embellishments and a signed Andy Warhol Campbell’s soup can are also a part of the exhibition that opens to the public on Friday, September 23, 2022.

Visitors of all ages can get hands on with interactive exhibits that include using dance steps on the floor to move along with music, playing a street piano decorated with flowers by a Richmond artist, creating calligraphy on Buddha boards, contributing to colourful collaborative art challenges, and designing new street banners for neighbourhoods.

The Arts Live Here will be showing until September 2023 at the Richmond Museum, 7700 Minoru Gate (located in the Richmond Cultural Centre). Operating hours are 9 am to 9pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm weekends. Admission is by donation.
