Celebrate National Seniors Day with free activities for all ages
26 September 2022
The City of Richmond is celebrating National Seniors Day (October 1) with free community activities. Celebrations include a dance performance and two National Seniors Day socials. While focused on residents over 55 years of age, everyone is welcome to attend the activities taking place on Thursday, September 29 and Saturday, October 1.
As part of National Seniors Day – also designated International Day of Older Persons by the United Nations General Assembly – the City of Richmond will be displaying its annual Positive Aging Campaign, which aims to diminish ageism and existing stereotypes through showcasing positive images of seniors in the community. This year’s theme, “Seniors Building Connection in the Community”, highlights seven seniors who are aging positively in Richmond by inspiring others, being active or ensuring newcomers feel welcomed. The campaign runs from Saturday, October 1 to Friday, October 7 and can be viewed on the City website.
The public is encouraged to attend any of the following free activities to celebrate seniors and their contribution to society. Pre-registration is required for all activities as space is limited. Register with the corresponding barcode online at www.richmond.ca/register, by calling 604-276-4300 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or in-person at any City of Richmond community facility.
